Yoga and Ayurveda are considered a complete system of well-being for both mind and body. They are two branches of Vedic knowledge that encompasses all of human life and the entire universe as a whole. It is really important to understand the respective roles of Ayurveda and Yoga in the Vedic system. Yoga and Ayurveda are related to the healing disciplines of India. Vedic knowledge is the ancient mantric science of the seers and yogis of India. Yoga has a crucial role in this. It is designed to show us the inner workings of the universe and our consciousness, leading us ultimately to the state of Self-realization and liberation from the cycle of birth and death. All Vedic sadhanas (spiritual practices) involve some form of Yoga practice.
To put it simply, Yoga is not originally or inherently a medical system. It does not address any physical or psychological disease or their treatment as such. Instead, it aims at relieving spiritual suffering according to the kleshas or spiritual afflictions starting with ignorance of our true nature as pure consciousness.
